Slag Glass is used to create interesting glass items.  Making Marbled Slag Glass is a labor intensive process. It takes an experienced glass worker to consistently create desirable pieces. These would be pieces with good color separation in the glass as well as good “swirls”. Good color separation shows that the artisan was proficient in his job… not over mixing the colors as the were retrieve from their respective vats of molten glass… and then giving that liquid glass mass the perfect “spin” into the molds to create the desirable swirls in the finished piece. Great colors… with good color separation… and good swirls in the glass.

“Tri-Color” is a combination of deep three colors, for example, Ruby Red,  Milky White and Egg-Yoke Yellow glass colors. I would assume that the glass workers had to retrieve molten glass from three separate vats to come up with this unique color combination. We don’t see much “Slag Glass” anymore… and when we do it’s always just two colors. It’s extremely rare to find a Tri-Color combination.
